The Ombudsman’s Council for National Minorities

 

Academician Vojislav Stanovčić, full member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA), retired professor of the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade. He guided the expert team for preparing the Law on Protection of National Minorities’ Rights and Freedoms, and was a member of the working group of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government that drafted the Law on National Councils of National Minorities. He is the president of the Interethnic Committee on National Minority and Human Rights Research at the SASA, and member of the International Council for Ethnic Issues of the Carnegie Foundation in New York, as well as of the Project Council for Ethnic Relations at Princeton University.

 

 

Academician Tibor Varady, full member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and of the Vojvodinian Academy of Sciences and Art. He is a professor at Central European University in Budapest and also teaches at the universities of Harvard, Berkeley, Stanford, Cornell and Emordž. He was the Minister of Justice in the Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, from 1992-1993.

 

Professor Dr Ranko Bugarski, doctor of linguistic sciences, lectures at the Philological Faculty at Belgrade University. He is member of Advisory Committee for Monitoring the European Convention on Regional or Minority Languages of the Council of Europe.

 

Assitant Professor Dr Ljubica Đorđević, teaches Constitutional Law at the Faculty for European Legal and Political Studies in Novi Sad. She received her MA (LLM) and PhD degrees from the Law Faculty at Dresden Univeristy.

 

Professor Dr Milan Vukomanović, teaches at the Sociology Department of the Philosophical Faculty at Belgrade University. He got his PhD from the University of Pittsburg where he taught afterwards. He is one of the most prominent sociologists of religion.

 

Dr Slaven Bačić, historian and lawyer from the city of Subotica. He received a doctorate in law from the Law Faculty in the city of Osijek. He is the president of the Croatian cultural society in Subotica.
